The Monthly Letter from Pastor Wanda -  October 2014

Dear Friends

In the Book of Colossians Chapter 3 verses 15-17, the apostle Paul writes: “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace, and be thankful. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

I don’t know about you, but sometimes, in the midst of navigating a busy schedule and checking things off a long to do list, I take things or people for granted.  I don’t mean to do it. I certainly don’t intend for it to happen, but sometimes it does. So every now and then, I have to add an note at the bottom of that ‘to do’ list; “and be thankful.”

Throughout the month of November may we cultivate a spirit of gratitude. May we remember the little things that make such a big difference in our lives. May we treasure our family, friends and loved ones. May we strive to take nothing for granted.

Please plan to be a part of our worship celebrations each week, so that you can be strengthened and encouraged for the road ahead. Be sure to participate in our Harvest Potluck on Sunday, November 2nd following worship. Bring a friend and a dish to share as we enjoy good food, conversation and laughter. Please prayerfully consider your financial pledge and the church for 2015. On November 23rd, we will celebrate Stewardship Commitment Sunday when we will dedicate our gifts to God. Don’t forget Thanksgiving Eve. Please invite a friend to join you for this inspirational service on Wednesday, November 26th at 7:30 pm.

Blessings & Peace  – Pastor Wanda

Sanctuary Flowers

This year there will be 3 options for obtaining flowers for the sanctuary.  The first option is the traditional ordering from the florist at a cost of $35.00. The second option will be to purchase your own bouquet and you can then divide the bouquet in half for each flower container.  The last option will be for you to purchase two artificial bouquets at any craft store and if you would like the flowers can then be held at the church for future Sundays. If you have any questions please call the church office at 516-354-1848.
