The Monthly Letter from Pastor Wanda - April 2014

“Behold, I am making all things new” ~   Rev. 21:52

It has been a long hard winter. Every now and then we have had a warm spell and then the temperature has taken a nose dive and we have received another blast of cold artic air. I don’t know about you, but I grown a little weary of the Polar Vortex.

The Good news is this: Spring is coming! Signs of new life are bursting forth all around us. You catch the scent of fresh spring air as you walk outside and the feeling from the warmth of the sun hitting your skin. You see the beautiful colors all around after a season of winter white.

As that last bit of winter melts away, God is breathing new life into the world around us. It is unmistakable. God is at work in our lives and in the world around us, bringing hope out of destruction, light out of darkness, joy out of despair.

There is hope in that little bit of green just beginning to poke through the dirt.  Soon it will become a beautiful daffodil. There is hope in that tiny pink bud starting to pop out from the branch. Soon it will be a delicate cherry or dogwood blossom. There is hope watching the little bird working so hard to build that nest. Soon it will be full of new life. There is hope in the promises of God because God is faithful.

God makes all things new. All things, not only the flowers and plants and birds of springtime but us! Our lives are made new in Christ. He redeems us. He transforms us. He renews and restores us.  God is continually at work in our lives – continually. Isn’t that an amazing thought. God is making all things new. And God is doing it right now. Even when it might be hard to see. Even when we begin to feel impatient. Even when our faith is small. Even when we feel discouraged and disillusioned. God is working in us. We can trust in God and in God’s Word.

I invite you to participate in all of the Holy Week Services so that you may fully understand the power and the Hope of the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Blessings and Peace,

Pastor Wanda

Sanctuary Flowers

This year there will be 3 options for obtaining flowers for the sanctuary.  The first option is the traditional ordering from the florist at a cost of $35.00. The second option will be to purchase your own bouquet and you can then divide the bouquet in half for each flower container.  The last option will be for you to purchase two artificial bouquets at any craft store and if you would like the flowers can then be held at the church for future Sundays. If you have any questions please call Terry Prekopa at 516-437-0222.
