The Monthly Letter from Pastor Wanda - September 2014
Over the last few weeks I have been meditating on the familiar passage found in Ecclesiastes 3: “To everything there is a season and a time for every purpose under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill and a time to heal; a time to break down and a time to build up; a time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance…”
Every now and then we are reminded of the importance of making the most of each day and using our time wisely. We read studies and articles that tell us that a life in balance, reduces stress, promotes health and enhances performance, accuracy and creativity. We are all striving to master the fine art of knowing how to work hard and how to play, to enjoy life, to dream, to love and to laugh.
This old Celtic prayer says it best:
Take time for work, it is the price of success.
Take time to think, it is the source of power
Take time to play, it is the secret of youth.
Take time to read, it is the foundation of wisdom.
Take time to be friendly, it is the road to happiness.
Take time to dream. It’s hitching your wagon to a star.
Take time to love, it is the highest joy of life.
Take time to laugh, it is the music of the soul.
Over Labor Day weekend I encourage you to rest and relax and strive to regain balance in work, play, thinking and dreaming.
Please join us in worship on Sunday, September 7th as we celebrate the Lord’s Supper at 10:30 AM.
We will celebrate Rally Day on September 14th. Please join us for a BBQ after worship. Please bring a salad, side dish or desert to share. I am looking forward to seeing you there.
Blessings & Peace,

This year there will be 3 options for obtaining flowers for the sanctuary. The first option is the traditional ordering from the florist at a cost of $35.00. The second option will be to purchase your own bouquet and you can then divide the bouquet in half for each flower container. The last option will be for you to purchase two artificial bouquets at any craft store and if you would like the flowers can then be held at the church for future Sundays. If you have any questions please call the church office at 516-354-1848.
